How do I make a shortcut of a folder from the main server to the desktop of another computer. I hope this makes sense - We currently have a server which is also used as a computer, and another 3 comuters off of that server. On my computer (not the server) I have a shortcut on the desktop for my work file (stored on the servere.g. shortcut to T work). I need to make one on another computer for a colleague so they can access their own work easily rather than going e.g. - start - network places - J computer - z drive - d's folder. I have right clicked on the appropriate folder from A's computer and tried to make a shortcut, but I dont know where the shortcut goes to? It certainly does not show on A's desktop. Can anyone help me - simple terms please. All computers are operating WIndows XP. Thank you.

Right-click on the folder, don't choose "Create Shortcut", but choose "Copy".
Right click on the desktop, choose "Paste Shortcut Here"
BTW, you should also be aware that if you place a shortcut to a networked resource on the desktop and then start the machine when the network is unavailable, Windows performance will be considerably degraded as it continually attempts to locate the resource.
