Hi there,

I know a few people have asked questions of the same subject...but none have really answered my question.
Im looking to buy an in-car stereo for my boyfriend. He wants something that will play his i-pod songs. He already has an i-Trip but his car radio is poor so he cant get a good station to tune it into. But ive researched and found u cna get cd/mp3 players for your car.

Firstly, how do they work? Does the i-pod plug into the radio or something? And how much should i be looking at paying? Anyone got any suggestions of a good one?!

any info at all will be an improvement on what i know!
Thankyou

Hi Rafferty

Thankyou for your answer.

I've seen a few that dont seem to have anywhere for the ipod to slide into. Would these not be of good quality? I cant really see where the ipod would go on these, but they say they play mp3's?!Heres an example ive found

Does this just mean it plays tracks that are in the mp3 format? Or that u can actually plug ur mp3 player into the stereo?!
Help!
Rafferty - the one you linked to will play mp3 and WMA files burnt onto a CD.
You need to look for one with a front input for an mp3 player. Some will have holders, others just use a lead and you leave the ipod in the ashtray or something.

Im sorry for sounding totally stupid. But where would the lead plug in? Im not sure if theres anywhere for it to plug into on the radio he has now. There's also no tape player in the car so i cant get one of the casette things! Would i have to buy a radio with a usb port or something to plug the cables into?
yep. Some car stereos have a USB, or occasionally firewire, port on the front for you to plug in an mp3 player.
Something like this
