I have ordered SKY HDTV - Can I reorder the picture from an HD broadcast on an HDMI DVD Recorder and anyone any suggestions as to the best HDMI DVD Recorder to purchase

You'd need a DVD recorder which records on HD DVDs, they're not available yet, only players. There's also Blu-Ray disks, an alternative to HD DVDs, it's going to be like VHS and BetMax all over again.

You will be able to record onto a regular DVD though, with a drop in quality.
