I am a owner of a new computer with windows xp on it. I can now only play region 2 dvds. Originally I could play region 1 also, but now it is set to region 2. Does anyone know how to set the dvd player back to multi region?Or at least to play regions 1 and 2?

Most new DVD players on computers allow you to change the region setting up to 5 times before the last setting will lock on the player and this will become your home region. It sounds like you were lucky and the last disc you used was a region 2 although you should have had a pop up warning informing you this was happening (sometimes Windows XP does to much for some users in this respect and they switch off these functions). There are ways round this though you may have to hunt for a download to crack the code in your player. Try google with a search for the following " Computer DVD player region unlock" which gave a few good leads for me when i tried it.
