Anyone ever had a problem getting different makes of blank dvd-r discs to work?


I usually use traxdata yellow and they are fine,however as i ran out,i borrowed a few sony dvd-r from a friend,and my pc just wont recognise them,so i got some more traxdata and presto!! all was fine again..,am i alone????...using xp...and nero.


Why could this be...thanks.

I've just had the same problem with dvd-rw when I bought some non branded ones.I stick to datawrite now if poss. Surprised about the Sony one's though, i would have thought they would work ok.

Just had a similar problem - usually buy dvd+'s, but inadvertently bought dvd-'s.My dvd writer does not support all -'s (checked on manufacturers website). The disks were branded, HP, but yes, I usually use traxdata or similar (cheaper!!!)

I've found that disks made with a dye called "G04" always work very well. I buy mine via the internet from these people...
