Hi. Just downloaded a film off the net and when I try and play it through windows media player, although I can see that the player is trying to retrieve the codec from the server, it comes up with the message - "error downloading codec". The codec for the sound is fine though, and it this carries on playing without the video.

Have tried to look on the net for a codec, but am not sure what type of ile it is or what to do with it if and when I find it. All the properties in the file tells me is that it is a "video clip" file.

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Steve

Try the KLite Codec pack. It contains just about every codec

Removed the </p> from my link
Or a free video player that plays about everything you can throw at it:

Well I dunno about codecs - yet - but I downloaded that video player and used it. It knocks spots off the Windows one. I think I will make it the default player - ta for letting us know.
