When you say Media Player etc... What do you mean by the etc.. You will have to use some sort of ripping software ! Media Player is as good as any I have used, why don't you want to use that?
There are any number of freeware rippers also available but if you want the ultimate in quality you should use a specialist program like dbPowerAmp Music Converter which gives you the opportunity to oversample for higher accuracy. It's not expensive either.
go to downloads.com then install freerip. really easy to use and very little spyware
CDex:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/

it just imports your CDs, which is what you want.

but the easiest method is to use iTunes, which will also import your CDs:
http://www.apple.com/itunes
Like fo3nix, I've used Cdex - it's so simple and free, but for a bit more control I normally use MusicMatch Jukebox.
CDs of music? There are literally hundreds of good programs, I like freeripmp3
