You are lucky emma!

What exactly do you want to do and why can't you do it?

Do you want connect by wire to your modem, or by wi-fi?

Do you want to network your laptop with your desktop?

Is your desktop wireless?

I just want to be able to connect to the internet on it really, I really am stuck and know nothing about technology:-(
Emma, I don't have pipex but I imagine you have a software install disc that pipex supplied.

Install this on your laptop, following the prompts.

Pull internet cable out of the desktop pc and connect it to the laptop.

That should do it, in simple terms.

thanks ethel, I realise how stupid I must sound, but I have always had my brother about to sort out my computer for me but he isn't around just now, thanks I will have a go, thankyou, emma
if you have broadband, then there is probably a cable coming from your broadband 'modem'. it looks like a large phone cable connection. you just need to find the port on the laptop (on the right, i think), and plug it in. turn the iBook on, and you should have the internet!

if your broadband modem connects with a USB cable (rectangular end, metal, with a little bit of plastic covering half of it), then try just plugging it into a USB port on the side of your iBook (either side). it may work immediately, but if not, you may have to install any software that came from Pipex for your mac.

or, do you have dial-up? (when you connect to the internet without the iBook, do you have to wait a few seconds while it dials up and things, maybe with weird screetching sounds coming from your computer?)
Have you been able to do it, Emma?
