Is there some kind of system where I can place the object I want measured on a flat surface, have it scanned (laser) and then it tells and displays the dimensions I am after on a pc?

Or something like that. Anyone know?

There's an industrial machine - a profile projector, but it's hardly suitable for home use

Yeah but they measure things on a smaller scale. and from what I can see are for more potical use.

I need a system that can scan an object over and then display the shape and dimensions of the object on the computer screen.

Surely there must be something like this.
