WMA files on an ipod shuffle?

Is it possible to play WMA files on an ipod shuffle? I don't have one, but someone else does and doesn't want to have to convert everything he has in this format to AAC or Mp3 if possible. Is converting them the only way or putting them on there?

sorry, tell your friend that you need to convert them to mp3 or aac. iTunes will do this for you very simply though.

to stop this from happening in the future, use non-proprietary formats, if possible. ideally license-free ones too!
