Hi, I keep an old Mobile in car for emergencies. As it might not get used, hopefully, for months at a time I would like a SIM to put credit on which will not have an expiry date like the one I have just had from Asda.

thx

Is Asda still providing that service?

1p mobile lasts indefinitely but you must use it once every 120 days.

Giffgaff, you must use it once every 180 days

Asda, you must top up every 180 days

I was told by Vodaphone many years ago, when I accused them of stealing the remaining balance on a SIM, that it was now a rule that SIMs not used for a few months (can't remember the number) had to be cancelled so that the number could be re-used. You only have to contact the phone so just ring it from another one every few months - no need to answer it, just ringing it is sufficient to keep it alive.

Use it briefly once in a while.

I have an equivalent to your Asda (Aldi) which I use very seldom, so I phone my house phone once a fortnight or so, pick up, hold for a few seconds and replace the receiver.

I have a diary note to call the rarely used mobile once a month.
