Hoping someone may be able to help. Like thousands of others, since 9.30 pm yesterday I can't access Sky via my Sky Q box, recently installed. I believe it is possible to phone Sky, who will talk through how to rectify the problem, but that will be difficult for me as my partial deafness means that I cannot easily hear on the phone; also if it involves disconnecting and reconnecting a cable I can't do that easily either, as I can't bend down behind the TV to reach it without considerable difficulty. I was wondering whether anyone here who has seen or heard how to put the fault right could explain it simply for me?

The problem is with Sky, not your equipment. There is nothing you can do at the moment

Thank you so much for posting this.   Our television went on the blink last night and we didn't know why.  I'm sorry I can't answer your question but I await other answers with interest.

I had a problem too, the Sky page on line said to disconnect the service, ie switch it off at the plug, wait 30 seconds then reconnect.  It worked for me, I was getting a No signal message and it's fine now.  Good luck

That's good to know, Zebo. Why don't they put that on their website?

The website last night was saying they couldn't run a check on my Q box, that service wasn't available, it's only been this morning that they've said how to solve it!  At least it forced me to get the duster out to clear all the gunge behind the TV!

Thank you to all. A friend came to follow the instructions from Sky, as Zebo said, and it's fine now.

This is probably a stupid question but we were watching a recorded programme when our television switched off and went black so not 'live' television as such.  Would it have affected that too?

Yes it would, Naomi.

Why?

Accessing Content:

When Sky is down, you may also have difficulty accessing recordings that are already on your Sky box. This is because Sky Q relies on the servers to verify your subscription and ensure access to your content.

My opinion. Some Sky recordings are not recordings but simply bookmarks to a catch up service . This isn't always obvious to the user

Thanks Barry.

Thank you Zebo.  It's working now - hopefully no more problems.

This is welcome. I had problems with the Sky box last night and I couldn't log into Sky to see how to deal with it.

I hope it isn't the box 😮

I had paid to watch the live football play-off match between Southend and Rochdale and the stream went down 3 times during a rollercoaster match (my team Southend winning 4 - 3 AET). Fortunately I didn't miss any of the goals. As others have said, unplugging and replugging Sky sorted the problem.

We did that twice last night, Arrods, and got it back but it very soon went again.   We did it again this morning after I read this thread and it's fine now.  There was a definite Gremlin in the works.
