How good is the signal in your area?

Question Author

Good as far as I'm  aware

At the moment I've got a cable that runs from the roof aerial  to the inside of the house .

It is then extended by another cable to the TV in the bedroom.

Its been working fine untill now , where it's started saying 'no digital TV signal available'

I think it might be the connection at the end of the cable that plugs into the aerial socket at the back of the TV  .

I've tried fiddling about with it but I'm unsure if I've put the connectors back together correctly

Have you tried returning the TV?

If you know the name of the relevant transmitter, use this wizard to find a suitable aerial from the (trustworthy) One For All range, which is available from Argos, Amazon, etc:
https://ofa.com/argos/aerials?tag=ar:browse:plp:tvaerials:m020:aerials

Note 1: Don't simply select the closest transmitter to you from the list.  There's a transmitter shown that's just 3 miles from me but, as it's just designed to fill a gap in reception in a hollow, its power is only 0.002kW.  The actual transmitter that provides the best signal here is 25 miles away but with a power of 100kW.

Note 2: The wizard is honest.  If there's not an indoor aerial which can do the job (as is the case at my own location), it will tell you so.

How do I find out the name of the relevant transmitter , Chris ?

That link shows you the nearest transmitters when you put your postcode in.

Interesting. I changed channel last night and started getting lost signal too.  It did come back after flickering on & off for a while, but by then I was tired and switched all off for the night.  I wonder if transmitter skinflints have opted to weaken their signal.
