t Mobile -number transfer

Hey all. I got a new phone for Xmas. Same network as my old one (T Mobile). I have swapped over the SIM card and all my stored numbers came over woth the SIM card (hurrah).
However, I can't send or receive text messages. I have made sure that the SMS centre number has also been transferred but still no joy. Any ideas?
