F:\ Drive On Computer Not Accepting Card From Canon Powershot Sx40 Camera

When inserting the card from camera into F drive, I get message "F:\ drive didn't work"
I have looked all over for solution but haven't been able to find one. Help appreciated

Has that particular card ever worked in the PC?
Did you use the camera to format the card?
Is it possible to connect the camera directly to the PC via USB? If so, what happens?

sorry for delay. My computer had been hacked.
Yes, I have inserted the card into F drive twice before and the photos uploaded.
