Vladimir Putin's army is running out of viable tanks, missiles and fighter jets because the components they use are made in Ukraine, according to The Telegraph.
'The engines for all Russian helicopters, ships and cruise missiles and a substantial portion of fighter jet engines and ground-to-air missile and tank components are made in Ukrainian factories, which no longer supply Mr Putin’s forces.
Russian troops are understood to be running low on arms after five weeks of conflict and the heavy shelling of many Ukrainian cities.'
Should he not have thought of that (plus a thousand other things)?
Also, the supply of gas to Germany was supposed to have been switched of yesterday, but it seems to be still flowing okay. Switching off the gas would be shooting himself in the foot because it would seriously degrade the flow balance of the supply which should be continuous, - so I read. Does anyone understand more on that?

I don’t understand the situation with the gas either. Some days ago a demand was made to pay in roubles. Then Peskov said payment could continue in roubles. Then on Thursday Putin announced he was signing a decree enforcing payment on roubles. Germany and Italy said they’d not be budging. Russia appeared to back down. But as far as I know the decreed still stands. Putin tho is in a weak position here. He can afford to turn the gas off even less than Germany for example can afford to have no Russian gas. As I said before, there will probably be a compromise where payments in Euro are switched to Gazprombank, currently unsanctioned by the EU.

Perhaps that is why Putin "wanted" Ukraine in the first place. Arms and food security. The scenario has parallels in other parts of the World. Why would the EUSSR want so desperately to annexe N.I. from the rest of the UK? Shipyards, Thales(makers of the tank and helicopter killer systems currently being used in Uraine), Sea Routes, Natural Resources( oil, gas, and rare earth metals)and Food Production Companies(look at Willowbrooke. Part of a £5.4billion industry in N.I.) The would be dictators crave to get their corrupt hands on such assets.
Regarding the gas flow being cut off, I did read a little on it this morning but a little above my head.
In a simple way to explain it. If he cuts the gas off to Germany and the likes, he would need to store it. In a nutshell not the room to store such large amounts.
Cutting it off completely ( not storing it) would create major problems to get it flowing again. I think its something to do with the loss of pressure below ground falling. A bit like a water table falling. Someone may be able to explain better, but thats my shot at it. :)

Since 2014 Russia has either tried to produce the parts itself or indeed has tried to find alternatives.
But presumably the huge losses recently has made the problem particularly acute.

The Russian threat to cut the gas makes no sense.
To prop up the rouble?
The rouble is now stronger than before the latest invasion started. Partly because of higher gas prices.
It would only make sense if Russia couldn’t “cash its cheques” in foreign currency. But I think if that were the case we’d have heard about it

there's the storage issue if he wants to keep the gas flowing - and you cant just close the pipelines off as there is a risk that oxygen gets in and that's a recipe for disaster - the load has to be kept up. And also, think about it if the well is empty, then the pressure of the surrounding Earth's rock will push in to close the well up - and this happens quite quickly.
The number of lost Russian tanks numbers well over 600 according to figures rehearsed by the General Staff of the Ukrainian armed forces. And hundreds of APVs, missile launchers, etc.

And appalling details now coming from Ukrainian sources in neighbouring Bucha: 300 bodies in mass graves, all men many with hands tied, the bodies of 4 or 5 naked women just lying in the street, which these excuses for humans had evidently tried to burn.
The Russians had brought mobile crematoria and 45,000 body bags to Kyiv oblast: one can only imagine the scale of the genocidal slaughter that had been planned.
They even looted frying pans from people’s flats.
