Typing Problem

when I was typing on laptop it showed me at the top of the page if letter was upper case or lower case..this has disappeared..how can I get it back?

I'm lost!
I would have though that it was self-evident, from simply looking at the text, as to whether it's uppercase or lowercase. Further, having just launched OpenOffice Writer for the first time in ages (since I find LibreOffice Writer better these days), I can't spot anything at the top of the screen that fits with your description. Perhaps you could tell me where I should be looking?
