Is it a policy of Computer companies not to allow various retailers to sell the exact same model of a product in their stores? I noticed that certain Desktop and Laptop models are only sold in certain stores and not to be seen in any other. In other words, it is a waste of time to be shopping around because the computer you are interested is only available in one outlet. For instance a Computer model advertised in Argos is ONLY available in Argos and not available in any other outlet, the same can be applied to Currys and other outlets. Is this a policy organised by the Computer manufacturers so they can make sure there is no possibility of the exact same model being sold at different prices? Who is fooling who?

Not just computers but white goods, too. Very often the difference will only be the colour of a knob but it will have a different model number. Very frustrating for the savvy shopper especially as the practice defeats the price match promises.
