After posting this earlier, I went to visit a friend of mine (pre arranged) where I was greeted by her very anxious son telling me my friend had been taken to A&E with sickness and the worst pain she's ever had in her life, and yes, he was the one who had phoned and texted me with a new number I don't have!
I phoned the hospital who said I could go to see her as she was still in A&E and she was completely out of it on morphine.
The nurse told me she has been diagnosed with Pancreatitis and although I stayed with her for nearly 4 hours and she had been there for 10 hours, they still didn't have a bed for her.
I've been advised to phone back later to see which ward she will be on, but they think there is no visiting on the wards.
I was under the impression you can have 1 designated visitor, but I don't know for sure.
Anyone know the rules on this or does it depend on which hospital it is?

My next door neighbour was in the same hospital and came home last week.
I've just spoken to her about visiting and she was allowed 1 designated visitor from her support bubble or a family member, and it had to be made by appointment and for only half an hour.
Don't know if this has changed since last week.

The website should be up to date. (If it wasn't the trust's IT team would soon be receiving lots of complaints from ward staff, that's for sure!)
They've got really boring names for the wards up there, haven't they? Our local hospital has wards that are all named after Suffolk villages, such as Lavenham ward, Capel ward, Somersham ward, etc.

Pixie, I took her mobile phone with me, but she had no handbag, only a carrier bag that had her pyjamas and dressing gown in covered in vomit, but I had to put it in that bag as there was nowhere else, and although I told her where I'd put it, she was so out of it, I'm worried she won't know it's there.
Have just phoned A&E and she is still there. No bed for her yet after 12 hours.
They said I could phone again at 10pm.

I'd actually typed out a reference to Rabbie Burns myself but then I decided not to post it ;-)
It's nice that they've chosen to name some wards after fundraisers, etc, but it seems odd that they've not renamed a few more wards to get rid of those military-style letter and number combinations. 'Lavenham ward' sounds so much cosier to me than 'C2' or whatever.
However if I was actually in ward C2, I think that I'd have more to worry about than it's name anyway. It's the post-natal unit ;-)
