If you're talking about text reports, it doesn't mean the person has read the text but it does mean that it has been received by their phone. On my Galaxy - click the text message tab, > 3 dots on top rh side > settings > more settings > text messages > show when delivered (toggle that to on)

Tamaris, I'm no expert and don't have an answer but on my phone I get "Delivered" reports and "Read" reports, but only on a few numbers. I'm sure Chris can help, even if he can't give a full answer.
I asked the same question just the other day Tamaris - but I was unsuccessful but I think it was Barry who said that the person who "recieves" the message doesn't necessarily "tick" that it has been read.
Tamaris - Look up the post A Read Document
Jenny -I think the OP is talking about messages and texts, not emails.
oh ok
Are you talking about text delivery reports?

I just checked om my Samsung Galaxy A12 and the procedure outlined by 237SJ above fits exactly.

Many thanks. I did that but it's still coming up as delivery report not requested.
From a web search:
"That would suggest that the message has left your phone and has not yet arrived on the receiver's phone, still on the receiver's server waiting to be sent to the receiver's phone. Normally this would hint that the phone is off or that there is no signal at their end".

i.e. the message has been successfully been sent as far as the phone company that provides the service to the intended recipient but it can't yet be sent to their phone (together with a request for a delivery receipt) as that phone is turned off or is otherwise unavailable (e.g. because they've run out of charge, they're out of range of a phone signal or they've not paid their phone bill).
Tamaris, the recipient also gets a choice in whether a delivery report is sent. I always say no, so I can respond when convenient.

That's interesting pixie.
Update I turned the phone off and then it sent a message back to say it had been delivered.
