Daily Express Password

I have been reading the Daily Express on my tablet for a while now. Recently when I logged on to read it a notice appeared asking me for my email address and password. To be honest I had not made a note of my password and every one I tried was refused. In the end I contacted Reach and told them I had forgotten my password. They sent me a link which was supposed to let me change the password but it still won't accept it.
On the other hand I have the Daily Express on my phone and I have been reading it there but it is not so good. I then had the idea of using the link I had been sent to insert the password on my phone - in the vain hope it would work on my tablet. Sadly it hasn't.
Why is it possible to do things on my phone but not on my tablet ?
