"but it came back saying not enough information"

So supply the missing information!
I doubt even if you obtain a sent email with your email address on it that it would make an difference. It doesn't prove it's 'you' - anyone could rock up with such an email and claim to be you.

Is it a forgotten password situation, or have you lost the way you normally access hotmail?

Hi chinjan, it is a password situation I have tried a few passwords but none work, any more suggestions
Is there not a prompt for" forgotten password" and do you have second contact like sms with them to send you message to reset password

Hi again chinajan I have lost the way I normally access my Hotmail,

Hi calmck I recently changed my mobile number so they can’t verify it is me
Hotmail is a google account can you not contact them
When you first set up your hotmail account, did you provide them with an alternative email address and/or mobile number for security purposes?

If so:

1. Go to https://account.live.com/pw
2. Enter the affected Microsoft account and the characters that you see in the picture, and click "Next".
3. Choose either "Email me a reset link, Security questions or Send a code to my phone". (The 3 options will appear if they are set up during or after account creation.)
4. Check your alternate email for the reset link or your phone if you received a code.
5. Type the code provided and click on "Next".
Microsoft is moving its hotmail account to outlook this summer. You need to contact Microsoft by phone or online chat if possible to ask them what to do
Chinajan he has a new phone number

Hello folks, I have tried what chinajan suggested but I don’t have the original mobile number, maybe I would be better try and set up a outlook account instead and Change all my contact settings and passwords would this be easy to do, thanks again for any help
Do you have access to your contacts? That would suggest you are 'in' your email account. Unless you have those details recorded somewhere else?

Anyway. Easy enough to set up another email address - I have about 10 different ones with different providers. Write down all the answers you give to their security questions and keep them safe elsewhere!

Thanks chinajan, I do have access to my contacts, but is it easy to change my details to the likes of Amazon, ebay and the likes if I have a new email address you have been very helpful.
In most places like Amazon you go into account settings and can change anything
Question Author
Thanks to everyone for their help, I managed to set up an outlook email and changed the settings on Amazon and eBay, now try and do the rest.
Yes, as calmck says, once you've set up your new email address go to the websites where you've registered an account under your old email. Sign in with your old details then click to get to your account details and change your email address to the new one.

Most organisations will then send an email to the new email address and ask you to confirm it's you by clicking a link or filling in a code they send you.

Thanks again chinjan
