They only come with a SIM card if you buy it on contract from a mobile service provider. I prefer to buy mine outright and put a sim of my choice in, it’s always the cheapest way
Question Author
I am on a sim only contract with EE, pay 11 quid a month,
do you simply transfer the sim card from the old phone?
Question Author
i am obviously not tech savvy, especially around mobiles.

Question Author
would it be easier to buy it from EE, as i went round to my phone shop EE, and he said that i should buy the phone from Argos?
If you want to use the sim card you already have you have to buy a " free" phone. ( We call them free here, maybe you call them something else, meaning a phone that id not affliated with any provider). I have just bought an iPhone SE 2020 and am delighted with it. 128 gig.
Question Author
i want to stay with EE. My last phone i bought from EE is running out of storage, its only 8 gig.
Emmie, buy a SIM free phone from the cheapest place you can find (reputable sellers only, please!) and put your existing SIM card in. No problem with that at all
Question Author
Barry, if i buy a new phone and put in old sim card, will that be the same 8 gig, as i said im not much use with this.

I definitely want at least 64 gig.
It may be worth looking at the Samsung site under offers. They have a trade in deal, Mr U just upgraded but also wanted to keep his old Samsung, so sent in my old motorola, no longer in use, and got £150.
Question Author
how does this seem, compare, how do i know they are reputable sellers?

Question Author
i don't want to spend 500 or more... more like 150, how would i know how old the phone is....
The sim card is nothing to do with the phone storage capacity. It is simply the bit that connects you to the services such as phone calls.
I've had a thought. What do you mean by 8 GB? The amount of storage on the phone itself for apps, photos, music, files OR the amount of data your service provider allows you to download each month?
Why does it have to be Samsung?
Question Author
i have 8GB on current phone. not what's allowed.
samsung because they have proved to be reliable.
Question Author
barry did you look at the link? does that look right, i don't know whether to go to argos as the guy in EE suggested, or buy from amazon.
See if you can get this any cheaper Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation
