This may sound daft to some, plain stupid to others, but for myself it has been,as I have been working all the time with plenty of overtime and the pubs shut I have just paid off my mortgage a year and half early. Anyone else benefitted from it?

financially - yes, socially & psychologically - no.
Yes, things to the house that wanted doing have been done, it’s never effected me psychologically either, I just took it as it had to be and dealt with it
My life has changed completely and for the better. I wanted to give up work but felt a bit guilty and uncertain about doing so until I experienced lockdown last year, the rest, and the good weather! It was bliss and I was so ready to jump when voluntary redundancies come along. Win, win, leave work and get paid to do it!

psychologically absolutely not, financially i guess so.
yes, nothing to spend my pension on so I am rolling in money. I'd sooner have been off seeing the world but my OH is sick so I'd have been at home anyway.
Emotionally, it's been good and bad at times. The bad times included trying to deal with the death of my uncle last year and another distant family death in February.

Financially, I've saved loads and been able to sell my house and buy another outright so no mortgage. The Stamp Duty exemption helped a bit too.
god you must be joking
everything bad
Nothing much has changed for us except we haven't been out for lunch for seemingly ages.
Yes. Work's been a joy but sadly the fat-knecked mouth breathers have been released, given their ignition keys and are back ruining the place again.
Hit and miss. I'm lonely. I miss spending time with my kids. I didn't realise how much time I spent with them.
Financially it's been very good for us with the building trade. Selfishly , I've loved having youngest son back home from Uni doing his coursework in his bedroom and he's been labouring for his Dad so has amassed a nice little nest egg. I miss meeting up with friends for lunch but don't miss shopping. I 've become an 'Amazonian' why bother to drive the 25 mile round trip to the nearest big shops when I can order something on Amazon in the afternoon and it be delivered the next morning.
Ummmmm I thought they were living with you? You said at one time you had six people in your house.
Got more Gov business grants than I would have earned. Now I know the pleasure of being kept by exchequer - fab being ‘on the dole’ when me & stallion can gallop Windsor Great Park with only a loose corgi for company ..... tally ho ;)
^^^^^bit early for you Tambo or are the effects of last night still wearing off?
I thought Tambo was in the hairdressing trade ?
No. It's just been a restriction on my life.

No longer have enthusiasm to do much.

And we see a less free society emerging as the public is brought under greater control, seemingly willingly for many. And sadly it has made clear that the British not being the calm stoic independent stiff upper lip folk they're portrayed as.
How anyone could think that just because they have ammassed a nice nest egg and been able to do all their shopping from amazon from their armchair at home is any kind of positive I feel sorry for them. For me their has been no benefit at all, yes I may have saved some money but in no way does it compensate for having a full social life with friends and family and all that goes with it, yes and that includes pubs and restaurants that some think aren't important. Living a full life, not just existing.
Sitting in an armchair on a nest egg?
What a load of twaddle !
We’ve changed both our bathroom and kitchen and to me, that’s a plus!
Financially no difference for me as retired.
Bug its been very tough emotionally. Felt constantly worried last year. Also very lonely...saying goodbye to 3 pets didn't help. Now I'm just hoping/waiting for a visit from my daughter and her partner.
At least I didn't pile the weight on as so many have struggled not to.
Bobbi @ 10:22...that was tambo's dig at the Queen I'd say.
