Follwing on from an earlier post, I have decided to go ahead with a powerline from Netgear that I remembered I already had ( provided by Virgin Media). The adaptors only have one ethernet socket and I would like to have one of the adaptors with two sockets - would anybody know if the item linked to below would work ? I don't always trust the description given by some of these companies !

I am not 100% sure, but I think these devices are intended to put two Ethernet devices over one piece of cable. Let’s say that you have a standard four pair cable installed between two rooms, then you put one of these at either end and you effectively have two cables installed between the two rooms. Ethernet only uses two pairs of the four pair cable so these devices connect one of the sockets to the unused two pairs, but of course you need one at the other end to put it back to the right two pairs.

They aren't like dual telephone adaptors where you can just use them to connect two devices to one socket - at least I don't think so. I am not sure if that is what you want to do.

Could you not just buy one dual port powerline outlet.
If you buy from Amazon they never question it if you want to return something ?
Dual-port powerline adapters cost much more than that.
You can't use a splitter. You need a hub or switch like this

The Chair
Just to explain a bit clearer, I have one pwowerline adaptor in my home office connected by ethernet cable. I have another adaptor in my lounge that connects to my smart TV also by ethernet cable. The adaptor in the lounge has only one outlet and I now need two. Are you saying that the splitter I mentioned won't work ? If as you say I need the Amazon recommendation, where would I need to put this switch ? Many thanks for your help

TheChair says you can't use a splitter and then recommends something which is described as a splitter. I think either device would solve your problem. TheChair's choice is cheaper but needs a cable and takes up more room; your initial choice looks perfectly OK to me but your choice.
