I have some friends i met about 14 years ago. At the time, they didnt have a landline and only used their mobiles, and i remember thinkig how weird that was. Nowadays, i think i am the only person i know who still does have a landline (with a phone plugged in that still gets used occasionally)

Yes and Never.. I don't know anyone who uses a landline. Mobile contracts are to cheap.

i suppose people call each other less anyway nowadays - why actually speak to someone when you can text/FB them?
If our phone goes, t's one of three people - the friends mentioned in the OP, my sister calling from the USA as she has a landline rate that's better than the mobile rate or my sister in law.
Or scammers/chancers
Yes, the reason, there may come a time when you need to make an emergency call, and Sh** happens, no signal????
Question Author
i generally use the mobile for calls as we have an old fashioned rotary dial telephone and it takes blooming ages to ring anyone's number :)

TC, but you could say the same about landlines - i doubt many people have a fixed landline phone that doesn't need electricity/batteries
The only reason we have one is because my mum calls. Even tho she has a mobile!

How does a landline help you to make an emergency call when you spend most of your time hanging round the shops.
