Can anyone tell me where to go first with this problem..Royal Mail parcel delivered today from M & S, obviously opened & empty..on line form with Royal Mail says 48 hour tracked has to be claimed by sender, but surely it's their fault.. am having trouble getting anyone to speak to at M & S anyway.

Royal Mail is correct - it is up to M&S to make sure you receive what you paid for and if you don't they must put it right. You don't have a contract with Royal Mail - it is between RM and M&S so M&S must chase it up and try and get compensation from them. Regardless of the outcome between Royal Mail and M&S, M&S must either replace the item or refund you. Can you email M&S?

You could try a web chat. Scroll down to bottom of page in this link.

You should not have accepted an open parcel really.
When you took delivery, did you not ask the Royal Mail operative to record that the parcel had been tampered with? It might have been useful...still, it's Marks' responsibility to chase it up - not yours.
I had a problem with a lost m and s parcel that should have arrived on sunday. I did an m and s chat complaint on monday and the replacement parcel arrived today. I had paid extra for express delivery so they also refunded all of the delivery charge
All the big companies like M&S, John Lewis, ect seem excellant to me and will sort it out for you
