Strange Youtube Behaviour

I'm having a couple of problems with youtube but I'll settle for asking about this one.
When I finish watching a video and select another one to watch it just goes back to the original one. It doesn't matter whether I'm signed in or not. This just started about a week ago.
It only happens on my laptop. No problem on my phone or tablet.

How are you selecting another video? Are you entering a search in the box at the top or have you got a favourites file?

Try clearing your browser's cache.

I'm still perplexed by the inbox. On my YouTube app on my old tablet, there was an inbox option where I could see replies to my comment and suchlike. On my new tablet, it's completely missing, and I've no idea why.

I clear the cache regularly(ish).
I select another video by either clicking one that is 'on show' or by entering a title in the search bar. Either way I have the same problem. I do have a favourites file but there is not much in it and it's not used much.

Reset your browser to its 'out of the box' settings.
