For some reason I have been locked out of Skype, despite never actually using ti. How to get back in. Easy, they will send me a text message to my mobile phone. Great, except that I do not own one as we live in a Notspot.

Why don't you get a phone. You can buy a basic one from Tesco for about £10.
Because the OP can’t get a mobile signal where he or she lives, ummmm
its because not just the majority but the overwhelming majority do
get one that will work off your broadband signal
I didn't know what Notspot meant.
Yes...my mobile works from my wi-fi.
Get a cheap phone and use it through your home wifi just for the odd text such as this, or a delivery confirmation etc.

You might find that your Notspot has some coverage after all, its improves rapidly tehse days.
ummmm, what part of " I do not own one" I/E a mobile phone do you not understand ?.
Useful comment as ever Gulliver.
Could they not send an e-mail?
So rude as usual ( Gulliver )
gulliver hits the nail on the head - ab ers dont read the previous posts before blaaarting

anyway the answer to the question
because the ones who will give them money have mobile phones

and the old people they regard as a er dead market ( pun intended_
You must have set Skype up at some stage to be getting genuine Skype messages. .To do so you have to given the option to enter an email address. It is wise to fill this in as it is the only way to retrieve a lost password. Have you confirmed that this "Skype" message is genuine or a Phishing scam?
it seems to me that ummm understands every word of " I do not own one", seeing as her first answer is why don't you get one
I can’t follow what PP says anyway ( shrug)
I have a mobile dumb phone, I can't access weight watchers during the lockdown because the app doesn't work on kindle. It was a deliberate choice. I only want tech that works within my lifestyle. If I didn't have a mobile it would be a problem but when someone says access x or y via the app they get quite shirty when I say I can't.
I don't have mobile either
Because they assume everyone has been forced to buy one and pay for running it, willing or not. And before anyone says you can just get a pay-as-you-go SIM, unused they expire (use it to keep it alive and it costs you) and the provider pockets all the credit on it - it's called theft elsewhere but in this case it is actively encouraged by others (public and companies alike).
18.49, Not half as rude as when UMMMM said to me on a previous post "Shut up you are Boring" ............ and the answer was removed Get your facts correct , Bobisox before posting OK.
I do not have a mobile phone. I do not want a mobile phone.
