Having hung onto the dreaded end of support, I thought I might just hop over to windows 10 at the last minute.
The free upgrade is still available from tbe Microsoft website .. via a Media Creation tool.
Everything seems to be going well .. the upgrade almost does it all it's self. Just when I thought we were on the downhill bit, I now find it has all come to a halt and Win 10 setup is asking me to .. manually uninstall ..
Infineon TPM Professional Package.
Where will I find it, after an hour I still cant find anything to do with Infineon.
Like my upgrade .. I am at a standstill now .. any advice would be much appreciated.

My Windows 7 wasn't at all slow .. the more I read about the lack of security with it, the less I want to use my PC... just felt it is best to move on with the times.

i was told my system was slow, and riddled with problems, so i ditched them and downloaded a different security package, Free Avast...
Computeractive magazine recently had a useful article highlighting several things you can do to continue using W7 safely....I'm sticking with it.

Having looked at the selection of apps. from Voidtools, I am more than baffled now. Too much choice .. Why cant they make things simple.
The whole afternoon has been wasted now and I am wishing I hadn't started.

Mission impossible was my initial thought … but here we are .. me typing from my newly installed windows 10 after the initial problems.
I must thank everyone for the links, I never realised what a minefield I could have been letting myself in for. Plenty people wanting to sell you the answer. Would it work.. who knows, my wallet stayed closed and much Googling led me to someone who was a programmer and who couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Many people said delete a file from the registry, the only problem was the file didn't always have the same name. No way was I taking a chance was my first thought. But upon reading this guys advice
in the end it was a fairly simple task, providing you had the right information.
For anyone who comes across this problem while upgrading and it seems as though there are thousands out there. Try this .. it is so simple.
What you do is rename a file instead of deleting it..
Go to …
Start ..
Search..
Type in .. C:\swsetup
Select .. Protect Tools
Click once on.. Protect Tools..
Then rename it to .. Protect Tools-org

It appears that by renaming it, the Windows Installer (Windows Media Creation Tool) no longer recognises it as the Infineon TPM Package. Then go back to the installer and click refresh and the installation should carry on with very little help !

Must admit I broke open a bottle of Waggle Dance earlier before I fixed it .. just untopped another for the celebration .. Cheers Everyone !
