Why Is My Canon Powershot Sx60 Not Uploading Photo’S To My Ipad?

I am using an Apple lead but cannot upload photo’s. I have tried downloading a canon app but this will not connect.
Can anybody help?

Do you have the ipad connector - or are you trying to plug the camera in directly?
