I have just replaced with ink cartridges and the print is not good - I am finally getting to around to getting like a new printer. Anybody advice.

I do not want scanners, photocopiers, just the very basic printer to print some letters per se. Thanks

I use Epson because they are made locally & their replacement cartridges are about the cheapest around. (most modern printers will include scan & copy options)
Same as Davebro JJ x
HP are pretty good.
have you run the various cleanup and recalibrate settings for the existing printer. Personally I prefer Canon as they are reasonably priced as are the inks.
Try Argos

Jenny I don't think you will be able to buy just a basic printer these days. Just don't use the functions you don't need.

I swapped to a colour laser printer many years ago.
More expensive to buy, much cheaper to run.
No problems with nozzle clogging, print head alignment etc. etc.
Much better for occasional printing as there is no ink to dry up and clog.

I bought a Fuji Xerox, happy as a pig in it!
I did the same, Iozzy. A Black&white printer sounds like it might be OK for JJ if she only prints letters etc.
Bhg you still need to use all the colour cartridges even to print in black.
Yes Bhg, bought a Brother, black only, laser printer for my daughter many many years ago. It was passed through 3 other siblings, printed lord knows how many pages.
It's on its third toner cartridge, nearly full, and wrapped in plastic, stored in my garage.
Even though I'll never use it I can't bring myself to get rid of it, brilliant machine. (Steptoe and Son ;-)

With the cost comparison between inkjet and laser printing plus the ease and reliability I can't fathom why inkjet is still popular.
Not so with a basic laser printer Tony.
They only have one toner cartridge, black.
TonyV - Black&white laser printers only have a black cartridge. The machines are cheaper to buy than colour lasers.

if and when I do buy a printer - mine is so old - are they easy enough to install. Thanks everyone for your replies. I am left with loads of Epson cartridges too.
The Samsung monochrome Laser at Curry's for £60 looks like a reasonable buy. Reviews are all good including ease of installation.

You would have to check that the cartridges you have would fit another Epson - they aren't all alike.
JJ, they’re pretty much ‘plug and play’ if you’re connecting them via a wire as long as your computer is fairly recent. They’re a bit more fiddly to set up via Bluetooth (or our HP was).
If your computor is reasonably modern JJ it will detect your new printer and work. If not installing the relevant driver will do so.

If you are not printing colour then I strongly suggest a basic black only laser printer.

It will outlast you ;-)
I agree with 1ozzy, I have a Brother laser printer and its brilliant, I buy cartridges for it online from cartridgesave.co.uk, it is really quick in printing and I haven't had any issues with it, I do a lot of printing and I can highly recommend both Brother and Cartridge Save.

I have replaced them - the black and even tho the colour come up as full - you need to replace them as well. The quality is tetchy but I got a letter printed off today.
