I have a Lenovo laptop running windows 10. I use 'bing' as my search engine and am as happy as larry with it. For the past two days every time I open my browser 'google' appears. I DON'T WANT effing google. I have tried gong into settings and changing to 'bing' but it STILL displays google as my search engine in the drop down box in settings. How do I get google to eff off and set bing as my default please? Ok, I CAN get into bing via google by typing it in but it's becoming a pain in the ***, I wish i'd

What browser are you using?
Have you tried Googling for the answer ?
It’s usually the exact opposite. Bing inveigles its way into your system and makes itself the default search engine usually via some software installation.
Look on the bright side: if it wasn’t for google you’d never find it again.
Bing is entertaining for its hopeless “translation” efforts I guess
^
That's the problem i have, ich. Google is my default setting yet Bing has taken over. No matter how many times i reset my laptop, Bing returns. Bing is the Grey Squirrel of the internet:-(
Bing is Microsoft and windows will try and foist it on you at the least provocation. Particularly irritating for me is occasionally I have clicked somewhere on my login screensaver picture and windows thinks I’m asking for help identifying the location. And guess which search engine it uses ....
Bing is ok I guess but I resent having it when I’ve not asked for it
there's this, though it may be what you've tried already

https://www.bing.com/set/search
Run a scan with AdwCleaner, as malware can often change your default search engine:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
(Simply download it and run the file. There's no installation process).

However it's not clear to me exactly where you're encountering Google. Is it appearing as your browser's home page or are you getting results from Google when you use the search box (or address bar) at the top of your browser window? (Changing your default search engine won't change what appears as your home page and, of course vice versa).

It would also help to know which browser you're using, so that we can provide you with instructions specific to that browser.

Hi folks thanks for all the great answers. Buenchico I'm using Microsoft Edge, whenever I've opened my browser I used to get bing, which I had it set to, it's only the past two days that I get google, - I've tried going into settings and where it says 'open with specific page' I type in bing, but it won't accept and just puts google instead. Have run malware bytes and see what happens now
