Silly question of the day from computer dunce.
Is there a difference in data size terms if you download something on computer or mobile phone?
Reason for asking I'm on a limited wifi connection and try to save data as much as possible, wondering is it better to use mobile phone or a computer . Or perhaps there is no difference in data consumption
For example on downloading online newspaper with lot of pictures on the site, it seems quicker on the mobile phone, so perhaps less data being consumed?
Although if downloaded from same site would think probably the same data amount?...be *** if I know.

If you download exactly the same data it will be exactly the same size.

However some websites have separate 'mobile' versions (which have been deliberately optimised for use on smartphones or tablets) and many now use 'responsive' designs, where there's only one website but the data it actually supplies to browsers depends upon the device which it's to be viewed on. (The Answerbank is a responsive website).

So it's possible (but by no means certain) that viewing a website on your phone might use slightly less data than when viewing it on your computer. However the faster loading of pages on your phone is more likely down to the different ways that the Windows and Android operating systems work (and/or to do with differences in the browsers which you're using).

Yeah thanks that cleared it up a bit.
i know there are mobile versions, think usually with an "m" in address bar.
But in browser its just the normal www. shown.
Although of course browsers may make difference? On comp its Win 10 version of Firefox and on phone Andriod version.
But on the whole after what u said seems aint much of a difference.
