(The Kindle 4 was released in 2011)
It also depends on whether you want a kindle or a paperwhite? The kindle is a tablet.
The paperwhite is a dedicated ereader that adjusts to lighting, particularly good if you want to read outdoors.
I think the paperwhite is currently on its 4th generation. I have 1st generation one.
They are quite cheap, buy a new one.
I still use my Kindle 4G if I'm going on long train journeys. Otherwise, I use the Kindle app on my Samsung Galaxy when going to and from work, etc. The 4G is fine so long as you ONLY want an e-reader. It does have wi-fi support, so it stays in sync with the Samsung i.e. if I read say 20 pages of a book on the Kindle and then move to the Samsung, it will "know" where I stopped reading on the Kindle and pick up from there.
The Kindle is an e reader, the Fire is a tablet. The Paperwhite is a type of Kindle
I much prefer my Kobo to a Kindle.
Yes but you can download books onto the Kindle fire.
Yes, you can, as you can with any tablet, laptop, pc, iPad or smartphone
