when viewing documents on your desk top - how do you get them to go into date order. I have dated 2014, then 2019, 2017 - higglepigglety.

Unsure exactly what you mean.
If viewing I guess it depends on the thing you're viewing them with.
If just seeing them in a directory, clicking on the date heading usually puts them in order.

If they are displayed as shortcuts on your desktop, you can right-click an open area of the desktop screen,then select 'Sort By' and then you have a choice, including 'name' and 'date modified'. If you have named your shortcuts with the year, then you'll need to sort by name.
