Hi everyone!

Here I go, asking again! Can anyone advise the best way to have one wireless computer keyboard, serving two desktop computers? I have a Dell EX 780 and a Dell GX 520, both Optiplex. which I use for different purposes. I don`t have room for two keyboards at the same time, but figured it would be neat if I had both computers running from the same keyboard. I don`t think I can get a new keyboard with two receivers ( the bit that fits into the tower) after local enquiries. The two computers are presently on a splitter so use the same monitor.

Ta Seeker......I had gone to bed when you posted later but was thinking about it. Had another snoop around this morning and found this and it can be done with a KVM device. You will need to sort out cables and suchlike and make sure the software is sorted. This site in fairness is very easy to take in but unfortunately cost thing up in US$. Amazon may be your friend...

A KVM switch is what you are looking for. Look in Amazon or Ebuyer for one which suits your setup.
Hmm I though a KVM splitter let you use one pc with multiple keyboards, monitors and mice, not the other way round. Are both PCs using the same operating system? Are they synced? Have you set up both PCs to work independently with the wireless keyboard?
Research input directors.
I've never used a KVM switch but I'm sure that's what a colleague used to switch a keyboard between PCs.

Thanks to Togo and bhg481. I`ve looked at the video download of "Input Director" and its mind boggling! But I`ll look again tomorrow and take copious notes of what the guy is saying, but I`ve a feeling I`m going to need a much larger pad! (plus numerous stops and starts).
But it does the job I wanted, so thanks to all who made it happen!

Amazon may be your friend here if you search for the bits and bobs.

I have a Logitech K810 that can be used on up to three devices. Would a basic USB keyboard work for you?

Thanks again Togo, I`ve now got the article you mentioned and am now looking and actually understanding, you`re a star!
Glad for that Seeker. Been trying to get hold of my son this morning.....Guess what? He runs two systems and monitors from a gaming keyboard. He is an avid "gamer" but likes to have his gaming set up separate from his other sites. Was going to ask him what his set up actually is. He built his gaming pc this year, about a grands worth with imported graphics cards and mother board with a ss hard drive for speed. His keyboard is pretty expensive too. Good luck hope you get sorted.
I had a kvm box once. Devil of a time getting it to boot up as required. Soon put it in the drawer for unused tech.

Hi Togo,

Your son must be as clued up about these things as you are! The motherboard and ss hard drive are like talking in Russian to me!
But am learning........ but very slowly!
