Hi, I want to buy a small device to listen to music in my conservatory. My Wifi signal does not extend to the conservatory, so I need something that i can play an alternative form of music on. Can anyone tell me what I should look for? I am a complete techno-phobe. Many thanks

You've probably already got a suitable device: your mobile phone. You can use it to play MP3 files that you've put on it or, of course, you can use it as a radio. If you don't want to use earphones (or listen to the tinny sound from your phone's speaker) you can simply add a Bluetooth speaker and stream the music to that.
Have you tried one of these for a few quid before buying a ‘player’?

Ha!
Get a wifi booster and have wifi in your conservatory.
Best of both worlds !!

Thanks, everyone. I have a mini tablet (Amazon fire). Could I download music on that, in a Wifi area, and then play it back in the conservatory? If so, what kind if speakers would be best? Any recommendations? I really appreciate the help, I am useless with technology.
Yes, C5, here’s a handy guide on how to download:

Sony make some good BT speakers but have you read my link about a WiFi booster?

I'll go through all the answers here, thank you. I really appreciate the help.
Hi Chanel.. O play my downloaded music/ YouTube etc through one of these .. amazing sound quality ..
Leave the wifi out of it. Simply play the music on your Kindle Fire. You can connect it via Bluetooth to a suitable speaker:

Bluetooth speakers are charged in the same way as your tablet or mobile phone is. They range from the cheap-&-cheerful models sold in discount stores like B & M (from £6 upwards) up to ones costing megabucks. (Note that the difference isn't just in sound quality. The cheaper models tend to have a far shorter battery life than those costing a bit more).

I can also recommend this Bluetooth speaker ..
I play my music through my Fire tablet / mobile phone via Bluetooth to those speakers. Recommend both as I have them both.
