Sick of Kaspersky’s scheming and lousy customer service, so I’m after recommendations for anti-virus/general internet protection for Macs.

Latest trick: the UK renewal price is $119.99, but you can’t buy it in the UK. The ‘global’ site has the same product for ...$229.99!

Goodbye Kaspersky.

I use this on my PC and iPad - good luck
Kaspersky Internet Security 2019 for £17.99...from the Computeractive magazine store....
There are loads of websites which claim to be able to direct you to the best anti-virus program (or full security suite) for a Mac. The problem with many of them though is that they're actually a disguised form of advertising for specific products.

However TechRadar is well-respected and trustworthy. (Indeed, it's one of my favourite websites). See here:

I note that Avast Free Mac Security tops their list of freebies if you only want an anti-virus program (rather than a full security suite). As Avast is also (it seems) the most popular freebie among AB's Windows users, it might be worth considering. (I use Avast myself and I'm perfectly happy with it). Otherwise Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac might be your best option.

If you want a second opinion (but still from a totally trustworthy website), see here:
They put Intego Mac Internet Security X9 marginally ahead of Bitdefender but, by reading the information on both websites, there should be enough information available to help you make your final choice.

Thanks Tony.

I’m amazed at the huge range of Kaspersky prices for the same product - the dearest being for existing loyal customers.

Odd company.

Bain I've found this with lots of "service" providers, my particular pet hate are insurance companies

Anyway, upshot was we have ditched the cunning Kasperskys and bought a heavily discounted Norton instead (one of the few that includes Safe Banking).

‘Which?’ helped as usual, as did my pals here.
