No Txt Notification

Can anyone tell me why my I phone se doesn’t alert me when I get a txt . Checked all the normal things like notifications in setting etc . Sometimes it does alert me others it doesn’t

Really difficult to say, have you checked phone manual, or does manufacturer have online help site?

Have you checked ‘Sounds’ in settings. Scroll down to ‘Sounds & Vibration Patterns and check ‘Text Tone’. If this only happens on certain contacts go to ‘Contacts’ tap on the person and then ‘Edit’ (top right) and scroll down to text tone and see what is set & change if necessary.

I don't have an answer but my Galaxy Edge does the same.
It seems to happen mostly when getting a reply from a contact I've just sent a message to but not exclusively.
