Best Free Email Account

I'll soon lose my works email address when I retire and would like to know which is the best free email account.

I have Hotmail/Outlook, Yahoo and Gmail. They are all fine. I know Chris/Buenchico has several he recommends.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird which copes very well with my 4 BT addresses, my Gmail addresses and my personal .net client.
Each is highly configurable.

I absolutely love GMX. It's far more intuitive than Gmail for me:

(I wouldn't touch either Hotmail/Outlook or Yahoo with an infinite number of the proverbial bargepoles. I've tried them in the past and have had accounts completely disappear for no reason. They also seem to generate quite a few problems for people posting questions here on AB).
