Is there any way cable ties can be re-used ? Cutting them seems to be the only option for removing them, which of course renders them useless. More plastic waste.

They are designed to do the job they were made for, why remove them?
You don't have to cut them:

Snags: Thanks for that, although it's not nearly as easy as the video shows, because I'm using very small ties and they're pulled tight, it does work.

AOG: it's a summer construction which I am dismantling to store throughout the winter ready for re-use next year.

For very small ties I use one of the items from my "watch repair kit" of miniature screwdrivers - a Pound for the set from Poundland. By now I have a small collection of ties, including those abandoned ones I pick up off the pavement/street.
Short shoelaces do a good job some tim if you are looking for an alternative way of fixing stuff together or if you are fixing through eyelets old fashioned treasury tags. They held the side flaps of our gazebo pretty well when we lost the bag of clips
If the ties have been used in a situation where they have been under stress, it's not a good idea to reuse them.

Thank you for that tip KARL, that makes it a lot easier.

Rowan: Thanks, might try that next year.

Sanmac: virtually no stress involved, but thanks.

Thanks woof, they look handy.
Another sign of autumn when Canary packs summer away :-(
they are very good Canary. Eventually they snap if you use them fully tightened but if you don't need to do that they can be used over and over.
