Washing Machine Not Filling With Hot Water

My washing machine was leaking from the hot water tap connection under the sink so I purchased a new one and replaced it & I reconnected the hose but when I switched the water back on, it started leaking from the hose connection so rather than mess around with it, I purchased a new hose, albeit that it was a lot longer than the original one. There are no longer any leaks but the washing machine is only filling with cold water now, I loosened the hose connection at the washing machine and the water is flowing so I tightened it and put everything back together, but I have tried the washing machine a number of times now and it is only filling with the cold water. I checked the pipe from the hot water supply to the tap and it is just warm and the tap feels slightly warm, but it doesn't appear to get warm beyond this, I have the flow of the tap going in the correct way, i.e. the arrow on the tap flowing towards the washing machine and as I iterated, there is water flowing to the machine, but it is cold. Can anybody suggest what is wrong please?

Most modern machines (last 10 years or so) only have a cold fill and heat the water in the machine. Make & model?
Hard to say. I take it you are saying that the machine did use hot and cold supplies and nothing except the hot hose and its connection has changed. If that is the case the only thing I can think of is that your hot water pressure might have always been on the low side and your new hose has a filter in it so that the sensor in the machine isn't detecting sufficient flow.
Try removing the filter in the pipe connector. I had this problem in a new dishwasher, which came with a new pipe. Even the mains pressure wasn't enough to fill the machine.
When you say you have fitted a longer hose .. can you see the hose is not kinked at any point.
If you can confirm this is so and you are sure that water is getting as far as the machine inlet, then perhaps the next thing to check may be the inlet solenoid.

Does your machine normally fill with hot water? I mean on the programmes that you commonly use - do you know this to be a fact?
The reason I ask is that some machines, and I own one, by design will only fill with hot on 2 programmes, both boil type at 90 degrees. All other programmes use cold fill only. If you aren't sure, give something a treat and run a 90 deg programme and see if the tube heats up.
Agree with Rob - your machine will only fill with hot water on the hottest programmes, not on any of the 'normal' wash programmes. Try the hottest wash....

In reply to all of your very kind answers, the washing machine has always taken in hot water, even when the "tap" connector which attaches to the washing machine hose, was dripping. When the machine wasn't taking in hot water, I loosened the washing machine end of the hose to ensure that the water was getting through & it was. I removed the filter and it was spotless, and I have checked the hose and there aren't any kinks in it so I have decided to change the hose for a smaller one to see if that makes any difference, but many thanks for all your answers, they are all really helpful so I can't really pick a "Best Answer"
