O2 Pay As You Go Very Cheap

I asked a month or two back about cheap PAYG phones (no games, no internet, no nothing - just phone/text) and I've ended up with o2.

No contract. All they want is £10 top up, and that's it. Pay it again when/if you run out of credit.

Charges: 3p per minute for calls, 2p a text, and 1p MB data (which we don't use).

With our very limited use, that ten quid is going to last a long time.

Not sure how cheap o2 is if you DO want contracts, internet, etc., but for simple PAYG it's dirt cheap.

I have an O2 pay as you go 'phone and recently received a text telling me that from 23rd August the call/text charges are increasing. Details are found by calling 2202. You might want to check to see if you are going to be affected.
You must be on a different contract to me with 02. I have a payg phone which I top up as and when it starts to run out, costs me 30p a minute for calls, not sure how much for texts.
Tesco even better deal.
Different times brings different deals. I get some inclusive texts for my £10. Since that's a primary use for me it suits me well. (A few gigs includive data wouldn't go amiss though.)
INCLUSIVE
I contacted O2 on 2202 and listened to all the options. there was no mention of the detailed changes proposed. So, I 'phoned the Customer Service number and spoke to an agent. According to the agent I am nowon the Classic Pay and Go Tariff which charges calls in the UK to any landline or mobile number at 3p per minute. Texts cost 2p.
^now on^
I'm with 1p mobile where its a 1p a text, 1p per minute calls and 1p per MB of data, it costs £10 and that lasts 4 months, you then have to put another £10 on for the next 4 months and so on, but you never lose any of your credit, it just rolls over so £30 per year, it suits me being a very low user, they use EE and have UK call centres, they also do a 'refer a friend' When your friend activates their SIM, we will give them a £5 bonus for joining via your referral link. This will be added as a top-up to their phone When your friend has spent £10 of credit on calls, texts or data, we will reward you with a £5 bonus for referring them. This will be added as a top-up to your phone. I've been with them for a long time and they have been excellent.

Thanks for that Flonska (calls ...at 3p per minute. Texts cost 2p). I'd never have guessed....

Bill
It sounds too good to be true. Like riptide my hubby pays 30p a minute going up to 35ppm soon and 15p a text. Why the difference in pay&go.. 3ppm to a landline is it the same for mobile to mobile. At the minute to call o2 to o2 is cheaper than o2 to another provider. Can't help feeling what is the catch.
as a minimal mobile phone user my £5 a month virgin plan with 50 minutes talk time and 500 texts is a good deal for me

I'm amazed 3rd party suppliers are able to cut those sorts of deals with the license holders. Must cannibalize their own market share.

There are some extremely cheap phone deals out there if you look for them.

Our landline calls are made through 18185.co.uk. About 2p a call for national, rising to £1-ish an HOUR for calls to Ireland/USA etc.

No devices involved, but you have to dial a number before you dial the number you want. (I have it pre-programmed into my phones so you just press '1' then the number you want).

No catch, no idea how it's done, but it is dirt cheap - just like o2!

Worth a look:

Maybe running calls for free over broadband, connecting only locally ?
I think I can top anything I have read on here for a minimal user. Texts I use everyday but rarely a phone call or mobile data. In fact MD is switched off unless I need to use it.
• 100 cross-network minutes.
• 500 texts messages.
• 100MB Mobile Data.

£2/month.
Whose that with ladybirder?
I think my GiffGaff deal is good..2 GB data 250 minutes and unlimited texts or £7.50pcm.
Yes also interested who you are with ladybirder
It's with Vodafone but it's not a deal that's open to everyone. I was paying £8/month but told them I was moving as I had found a £4/month deal and to keep me they halved it and offered this 2-year contract @ £2/month. When that time is up I shall try to get it continued.
Good for you well done. You get no deals if you don't try for them.
