The speakers I have with my desk-top PC aren't producing any sound. I've checked where they're connected to the computer and they're pushed in firmly and the green 'on' light is on but there's no noise coming forth so I'm mystified. Any ideas, please?

Is there a speaker icon on the strip at the bottom of the screen? If so, click it to see whether the volume is right down or muted.
Hve you checkeed the volume setting on the speaker itself and the "sound" setting on your pc?

I checked and indeed the speaker icon was muted so I've unmuted it but there's still no sound. I'll keep fiddling!
Thanks ZM and Flonska.
Try the search facility for "manage audio devices" In the playback tab, if the speaker device shows, click on "configure" this will allow you to and test each speaker in turn and then apply the settings.
have you got the jack plug in the mic socket mine is next to the speaker socket?
how about try the speakers in something else to prove they are working- may be the same size to fit into your phone for testing.
were they working and stopped working or have you recently attached them?

Just trying out all your suggestions. I've had them a couple of years, Quoi, and this is the first time they've stopped working.
Maybe have a look in here to see if there is anything that can help?

Have you got some headphones you can try in the socket?

Also try restarting the computer.

We're wired for sound again. Only trouble is I'm not sure how I did it! I went into Settings and Sound, etc. and ticked a few boxes and it's o.k. again. Many thanks for all your suggestions.
So glad . . . . now turn the Sound DOWN!!! in case you upset the neighbours!
