My Router keeps losing my laptop!

I am using AOL (I know, not a good start). I connect wirelessly through a Speedtouch 570 router, which is recommended for use with AOL. It works fine, except that every time AOL changes IP, which they seem to do from time to time, my laptop loses its internet connection, and I have to re-register it via the router. The wireless connection searches but comes up with an error 'could not resolve DNS' or something similar. However, the LAN card still shows a connection?

My PC, which is hard wired to the router, is unaffected.

A friend who knows his stuff has looked at my settings and can see nothing wrong. I have updated the firmware on the router to no avail.

Is there any way I can set things up so this doesn't happen? I'd be very grateful for any advice!! I'm not that well up on this kind of thing, so please be patient if I have to ask a few stupid questions.

Not an expert on this although I did finally manage to set up my wireless connection. I seem to remember having to select a box (tick a box?) that said something about automatically searching for an IP address. i.e. not a static IP address.

Have you still got the instructions for the router? There might be something in there.

I cannot find anything in the instruction, and the box is ticked for the automatic assignment of an IP.
