Is it necessary to have a roof top aerial to receive and record sky tv or do I just need the cabling from the sky dish to box to tv?. I am having trouble with freeview signal to the TV and when I have checked my cables I find that the rooftop aerial goes into sky, then out, then to TV and I wondered why I set it up that way?

Your rooftop aerial has no effect on your Sky satellite service. I don't have a rooftop aerial connected at all. Do you need Freeview for anything specific that's not on Sky? If not, then just unplug the aerial, or plug it directly into the TV.

Ok thanks, wonder why the rooftop aerial is going into sky box then in the first place?

Sorted now thanks. Rooftop aerial straight to TV and all freeview channels are back
