I have just got a replacement tower for our desk-top PC . When my wife tried to download a book to her kindle--the message on the screen said, book has been sent to your Kindle cloud. It wasn't in her Kindle. Do we have to do another transfer from "the cloud" Bewildered!!!

Open the Kindle - there should be a setting to 'sync' or 'download' - that will put the book on the Kindle.

You need to register the Kindle with the desktop, as you did when you first bought it. You can then download to the desktop and transfer to the Kindle if you find that easier.
Just open kindle, go to your library, and synchronize it.

Can't find a "sync" button on the kindle.

I have just found it by pressing the " cog " icon---the word checking comes in top left followed by "no new items"---should that be it, if I try a fresh download?
