Viewing Dashcam Video On Pc

I am attempting to view my dashcam recordings on my pc. The videos are avi files and my video player is vlc but I cannot view them. All help will be appreciated.

It seems that your AVI files must be using a codec which isn't supported by Libav (which is the 'engine' behind VLC). Unfortunately (unlike with most other media players) you can't simply add codecs to your computer so that VLC can then call upon them; the program has its own built-in codec library, which can't be altered by users.

So you'll probably need to use a different media player, such as the excellent Pot Player:

(Don't worry that Windows 10 is mentioned there. Other websites say that it runs OK under that OS).

If you still can't view your videos with Pot Player, install the K-Lite Codec Pack and then try again:
