My friend has given me her old mobile phone which she had when she was with Virgin, I want to use it with my Talktalk sim but need a code for changing sim. After 5 phone calls to Virgin and promises of phonng back ,(which they never do). they said they would e mail a code - they haven't.
Now they say they will get Samsung to write to my fiend - but why ?, it's Virgin that had the contract. The phone is not locked security wise.
According to their website they charge 50 dollars for this - whatever the UK equivalent is.
Have you (or your friend) actually paid Virgin Media to unlock the phone? They're certainly not going to do it for free! (A thread on another forum was quoting £15.32 as Virgin Media's charge last year).
A far simpler method though would be to take your phone to almost any market in the UK. Nearly every one seems to have at least one stallholder who can do the job for no more than a tenner.
"Very old mobile phone" .. why would you bother getting involved with codes and unlocking.
Just buy a new sim free phone and put your existing sim in it. This one allows you to have 2 sims on different networks ... and it wont break the bank.
You can get the code from the Online unlocking sites like Unlocking4U.com whether they provide the code for your phone with IMEI number and network providers details. They will email the code within 1 working day with the instructions to follow to input the code.
